  2. When I heard trans jargon for the first time, after living overseas, The first thing I thought of, while it was reluctantly explained to me in a condescending manor, was- ‘This is Cult-speak’.

    and #5 on the list.

The cult has its own language. The cult invents new terminology or euphemisms for many things. The cult may also redefine many common words to mean something quite different.[like ‘woman’] Cult-speak is also called “bombastic redefinition of the familiar”, or “loading the language”.

“Loaded Language” is one of Dr. Robert J. Lifton’s Eight Conditions of Thought Reform — an essential part of any effective brainwashing program. The cult-speak may include a bunch of well-worn slogans, which Dr. Lifton called “thought-terminating clichés. The special words constrict rather than expand human understanding, and the slogans stop thought.

Beginners have to learn all of the new terminology in order to fit in, and understand what is being said. Then, the new language has the effect of separating the newcomer from his old world, and from his old circle of friends. His new cult friends will tell him that “Only another cult member understands”, and it will be true. When he babbles nothing but cult-speak, nobody but another cult member will be able to understand.

Loading the language and redefining words has a long history. Lewis Carroll described it very well in the Alice in Wonderland sequel, Through the Looking Glass

  3. #75 also applies to transgenderism, and it co-insides with many older men as a mid-life crisis, and makes false promises to insecure teens.

  7. Hey, just stumbled across your blog. I am a cult survivor, and my cult leader was a trans man. He used his gender identity to hurt me and skew my own judgment and self-perception.
Thank you for writing this blog post and making the connection. Cults are already highly stigmatized, and cult survivors like myself are often dismissed as being stupid and naive for “falling for it.” Add transgenderism to the mix, and there’s barely anyone I can express my experiences to.
I will be writing blog posts on it, hopefully in the near future. Just letting you know.

  8. I have been working for years to help spread the word about the dangerous cult of scientology and am very familiar with how cults operate, and I must say it is uncanny how similar the cult of transgenderism is to any other cult. It is definitely not an exaggeration or an over-dramatization to call transgenderism a cult.

Something that strikes me as very dangerously similar is how both the cult of scientology and the cult of transgenderism are able to get away with such horrific abuses — because the truth is so unbelievable. If I tell the average person about autogynephilic men recruiting, bullying and controlling teens via the internet (I would first have to explain what autogynephilia even is), no one would believe me. In fact, they would think I’m some crazy old broad who is off her rocker.

To ushakali, try not to be so hard on yourself for being sucked into a cult. It can happen to anyone — even the strongest, most skeptical and intelligent people can fall under a cult’s spell. Cult’s often target those who are ambitious or kind-hearted, which are two admirable qualities. Brainwashing/mind control can be accomplished in a very subtle manner, without the subject having any sort of clue. The important thing is you managed to get out. Best wishes to you; enjoy your freedom.

    • I am not a part of the trans cult. I had every intention of hoping for a peaceful co-existence, but it is a ‘pride’ movement based on one-sided sexual pursuits, homophobia, lies and shame of biological females. I recognize it for what it is.

  9. It is indeed a cult, one that reminds me of the pro-ana movement online a few years ago now.
